The Blackville-Hilda Public School Board has selected three candidates as finalist.

The three finalists are (in alphabetical order):

 ·         Dr. Henry Cobb (Executive Director for Public Information and Human Resources,                                                Marlboro County School District)

·         Mr. David Corder (Director of Federal Programs, Blackville-Hilda School District)

·         Dr. Shawn L. Johnson (Principal, Dillon High School, Dillon School District Four)

The board made its selection of three finalists after a thorough review of 27 applicants and interviews with 8 of those applicants on February 1, 2, and 3.   Chairman Hagood said, "The board was pleased with the large number of qualified candidates that showed interest in leading our district.”

Chairman Hagood says the board looks forward to the next phase of presenting the candidates to the public and introducing them to district staff on March 3.  The three candidates will be in the district to meet staff on the same day.  There will be a community reception from 4:30 – 5:30 to give parents, staff and community members a chance to meet the candidates.  Each candidate will have a final interview with the board that evening. Welcome to Macedonia Elementary School, Home of the Hawks! Student achievement is the focus for our faculty and staff. We strive for students to experience a well-rounded program that helps them harness their uniqueness and strengths.

Our community is extremely active and is supported by very caring and committed members. We are proud of the efforts made by our children, faculty/staff, and parents. At Macedonia we work together as a TEAM: One Team, One Dream.  The team includes all stakeholders.  Our dream is student achievement.  We will continue to provide opportunities for student success, while our community supports our efforts.

You, as parents, are the most critical part of our school success. You take an active and crucial role in providing an atmosphere that promotes education and quality work habits. Your support provides the foundation for students to come ready to learn. I strongly encourage you to be an active part of your child’s education by making sure they get to school on time and attend school regularly. Please ensure that your child reads each and every night. Academics require practice, just like piano, football, and dance.

You will find your child’s teacher is your best resource and I encourage you to build a positive partnership with them. I look forward to working with you as partners in educating your children. I am honored to be the principal at Macedonia Elementary School and I look forward to working with the Blackville-Hilda community.

We are proud to announce our new PTSO officers:
